Why support Sara Bollinger for Manlius Town Board?
Updated: Sep 29
I believe Manlius needs to become a more inclusive community. Manlius should enhance our historical and cultural assets, increase the walkability of our communities and create mechanisms for meaningful resident engagement.
Recent proposals for commercial solar arrays, an inland port for the railroad, a quarry, municipal water and myriad commercial and housing developments bring into focus the need for a town-wide land use plan. I am excited to work with numerous resident volunteers, guided by professional planners, to develop the Manlius Comprehensive Plan during 2021 and 2022.
I believe that informed and engaged residents are the backbone of sustainable communities. I will work collaboratively with others, facilitating people with different and sometimes opposing views to work together for a common cause. In addition to live streaming formal meetings, I would like to continue to hold informational sessions and post videos and materials on the town website so that people can find out information for themselves.
Inclusion of diverse constituents
I will work to make Manlius a town that welcomes a wide variety of people as residents and a wide variety of business operations. We need to provide housing and jobs for residents all along the socio-economic continuum, while recognizing the needs of young families, older adults, people with disabilities and recent immigrants.
High quality municipal services
The Town has come a long way to improve access to services on-line and by telephone, and I want to continue this trajectory. I will work with staff to continue to modernize town services.
My goals for the next term are to:
· Continue to improve resident experience when interacting with town services,
· Increase and diversify communication with residents,
· Engage a wide variety of residents and businesses with the Comprehensive Planning process.
